Eathorpe Table
A unique bespoke commission for a large table to be used for playing Warhammer games and displaying collections. Commissioned for a large room of an 18th Century Mansion House the design took influence from antique Billiard tables, in-keeping with the house's period features, but with a slightly more contemporary feel. At 3.8 metres x 2 metres it is approximately the same size as a full size snooker table and certain aesthetic details were designed into the table, still with function and purpose, but to echo those of Billiard or Snooker tables. Examples of these are the raised 'cushion' edge bordering the table top, used here to contain and edge the gaming tiles when in use and dished to offer a secure place for dice and playing pieces. Also the corner joints of the table here echo the corner pockets found on Billiard tables.
Made from solid and veneered American Red Cherry and finished with VOC free in-house mixed colour stains and tinted oils, this is a sustainable way to evoke the rich exotic hardwoods of the imperial era. Functionality has been built into this table with hidden push to open drawers along the main apron of the table frame and large cupboard storage space beneath. The bottom section of the chunky turned legs are threaded to allow the table to be levelled easily and the entire piece can be dismantled for ease of future transportation and installation.
