Bespoke Sideboard for DJ with Record Storage
A bespoke Sideboard Credenza commissioned in order to provide a DJ booth for home parties while discreetly hiding away in normal day to day use with ample vinyl record storage beneath. Dubbed the Palmerama Sideboard after DJ Palmerama who commissioned it, it evokes a Midcentury feel and draws influence from the record player and radio sideboards and cabinets of the Midcentury Modern era.
Using a combination of materials acts to highlight the different functioning roles, with a brighter interior of Baltic Birch Ply and solid Beech, and a richer solid Cherry and Cherry veneer surround. The vertical linear square fluting echoes the repetitive lines of the vinyl storage and conceals the speaker cabinets, storage and mixer console within. The solid Cherry lid opens effortlessly with gas strut assistance and quietly shuts with a soft close. Various lift-outs and cutouts allow discreet cable access throughout the cabinet with plenty of space behind for cable routing, organising and storage.

The grain colour and tone can vary considerably even within the same species so these images are just for a guide, but we have tried to select a good representation of what is available.
